Food to help the grey matter pre exams

Hi there,

I just wanted to offer up a couple of culinary ideas to help those of you preparing for your exams at the moment. Food can have a really big impact on how you feel before and during your exam

Breakfast has long been seen as the most important meal of the day and for good reason as it sets you up for the duration. I have recommended a healthy and hearty cereal that is both brain boosting and delicious.

Simply mix together a bowl of oats, roughly chopped dates, raisins, and apple and topped off with a handful of blueberries then douse in some ice cold milk. Blueberries are said to have an extract that helps with short term memory loss whilst dates and the raisins will keep your energy levels up. Oats are a fantastic slow release food and one study found that people who increase their folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6 showed an improvement in recalling information.

Oily fish has fatty acids that are crucial to the health of our nervous system. Fish also contains iodine, which is known to improve mental clarity. So if you can manage a couple of kippers on some wholemeal toast then you should be in tip top exam condition

Remember to breathe, read the questions and always put it all in perspective.

The very best of luck from us all at the Harvest HQ
